In casting Maison Ikkoku the producers used a mixture of the well-established actors, and complete unknowns. The result is a very accurate portrayal of our beloved characters. Here you can get a look at each of the characters in costume as well as a list of the actors previous work.


Masaki Ito as Kyoko Otonashi
Ito (Real name: Tomoko Anzai) is no stranger to live action adaptations of anime. She has previously been seen on the small screen in dramatic adaptations of Gokusen, You're Under Arrest and Densha Otoko.


Taiki Nakabayashi as Yusaku Godai
Nakabayashi competed with hundreds of other unknown actors for the part of Yusaku Godai. Throughout the casting and initial filming process he kept an online journal and posted video footage of his life on the set of Maison Ikkoku.


Kayoko Kishimoto as Hanae Ichinose
Kishimoto has appeared in numerous Japanese television dramas as well as many films by famed Japanese actor/director Takeshi Kitano.


Ittoku Kishibe as Yotsuya
Kishibi is a formidable actor who has been nominated for a Japanese Academy Award twice and won once for his role in Shi no Toge.


Yumiko Takahashi as Akemi Roppongi
Takahashi is a relatively new star who has been credited for stealing many of the scenes she's in with her talented acting. She can be seen in the dramas Shomuni and Shiroh.


Ikki Sawamura as Shun Mitaka
No stranger to anime, Sawamura can be heard in such features as Steamboy and Grave of the Fireflies. Sawamura is however better known for his dramatic roles in such series as Gachi Baka, Gokusen, and Machiben.


Nana Eikura as Kozue Nanao
Eikura splits her time between television and film work. Some of her movie credits include Space Police and Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru. Eikura has appeared in such television fare as Dance Drill and Proposal Daisakusen before landing the role of Kozue.


Kin Sugai as Yukari Godai
Sukai has appeared on such popular Japanese drama series as Omiya-san, Watashi no Aozora and Trick.


Toshiyuki Hosokawa as Mr. Chigusa
Hosokawa certainly bears an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Chigusa. He has previously acted in such series as Five, 87%~Watashi no 5nen Seizon Ritsu and Aiken Rosinante no Sainan.


Shingo Yanagisawa as Master
Yanagisawa has appeared in dramas ranging from Riyuu, Message : Kobata go Uragitte Iku and the adaptation of Mitsuru Adachi's hit manga H2.


Ryo Hashizume as Sakamoto
Yanagisawa has appeared in dramas ranging from Nodame Cantible, Dragon Zakura and the film Godzilla: Final Wars.


Ei Morisako as Haruka Godai
Cute-as-a-button Ei Morisako began acting when she was only eight years old and has appeared in Chibi Maruko-Chan as Maruko, Komyo ga Tsuji, and Nodame Cantabile.

What else can be said about this cute dog? He was a much better casting choice than "Angela" in the Maison Ikkoku: Apartment Fantasy though.


Kouta Nakosone as Kentaro Ichinose
