1987

Jan -- 1987- The Chachamaru Master asks where Kyoko is and the tenants tell him she is meeting Godai's parents to discuss their upcoming marriage. Master asks Akemi if she's ever thought about marriage. She says she wouldn't know who she'd marry. Yukari picks Godai and a very nervous Kyoko at the train station in Niigata. Godai is angry to find his family's restaurant still open, but Kyoko doesn't mind and ends up helping serve the customers. While she's busy, Yukari gives Godai her funeral money to help him get started. That night she invites all her old high school friends to help the new couple celebrate. After the restaurant closes Grandma gives Kyoko her wedding ring and gets Godai to place it on her finger.

The Next Day- Godai leaves for work and Kyoko leaves to return Soichiro's belongings. She decides to visit Soichiro's grave and finds Godai there. He tells Soichiro that he envies him, but doesn't resent him because he helped make Kyoko into the person he fell in love with. Kyoko says goodbye to Soichiro with Godai.

Six Days Later- The wedding day arrives and so do the guests! Sakamoto asks Kyoko to take care of Godai for him. Ikuko and Kentaro meet again and Mr. Otonashi tells Kyoko she will always be his daughter. The wedding is beautiful. Later at the reception, everyone from Godai's Puppet Club to The Bunny workers and the neighbors visit. Mitaka shows up late after a hospital visit and proudly shows off Asuna's pregnancy. He wishes Godai luck and tells Kyoko that he's very happy. Godai thanks everyone for helping him get through life. Late that night Akemi, Yotsuya, Mrs. Ichinose, Kentaro, Godai and Kyoko all walk home together. Home to Maison Ikkoku.
