Podcast with Chad Kime
Chad Kime, the head of marketing with Pioneer/Geneon did an interview that is quite interesting to Takahashi fans. Its very rare than anyone in the industry discusses how many units an anime sells in the US, but Kime talks openly about the series under his watch. He reveals that Rumiko Takahashi Anthology was a major bomb, selling roughly 100 units of the first volume and only 60 for the second. Mermaid Saga merely broke even, but he stated "we spent too much on the contract, but it did okay". Its a facinating listen that we highly recommend. Source: Anime News Network
