The Diary of Kemo Kobiru

The Diary of Kemo Kobiru
けも・こびるの日記
Kemo Kobiru no Nikki

Before she became internationally known as Rumiko Takahashi, she was Kemo Kobiru, the college student/doujinshi artist. Shogakukan commished some autobiographical manga from Takahashi to fill the Shonen Sunday Graphics books they were using to promote her series Urusei Yatsura.

The stories focus on daily happenings in Takahashi's life. Everything from earthquakes that almost cause her to miss her deadlines, to food shopping and house cleaning become storylines for this series.

Notes:
  • We have translations of a number of the "Diary of Kemo Kobiru" stories here on the Rumic Theater website.
  • The above mentioned Shonen Sunday 1983 is a mook (magazine book) containing author's favorite stories from 1983, the peak year for Shonen Sunday. Takahashi included chapter 11 of The Diary of Kemo Kobiru and "Lum's Wraith".
  • In the first chapter of the series, Rumiko Takahashi is shown in her apartment/studio and there is a poster on her wall. If you look closely the poster can be identified as this early Studio Pierrot production poster for the Urusei Yatsura anime.
