| Puffy |
Kirei
na namida ga tarinai yo |
A
wonderful song from Puffy's Fever Fever ablum. Like with
a lot of their songs, you can hear producer Tamio Okuda singing
backup vocals in this song. This would make a great ending song
for a movie. |
| Kuroyume
|
For
Dear |
This
is Kuroyume's first single from way back in 1993. Very different
from the punk songs of Kuroyume's later career, this song has a
much more goth mood. A very cool song. |
| GLAY
|
May
Fair |
A nice uplifting
ballad-like song from GLAY. I think it's one of my favorite songs
from their Pure Soul album. Whenever I feel stressed, this
song seems to calm me down.

| Chara |
70%
Yugure no uta |
One
of Chara's latest songs. A song that mixes a very groovy jazz vibe
with a mix of retro music styles. There are a lot of different influences
used in this song so it's hard to explain. But that's usually the
case with Chara's songs. |
| L'Arc~en~ciel
|
C'est
La Vie |
A
happy, bouncy, Christmasy song that's a heck of a lot of fun. Kinda
cutsie, but still a very good pop-rock song. |
| Machine |
Douki |
The
first full song on Machine's first album. Machine is the joint project
of Penicillin's vocalist Hakuei, and Media Youth/Spread Beaver guitarist
Kiyoshi. Their songs have a very heavy industrial techno metal sound.
A style that fits Hakuei's vocals a lot better than with Penicillin's
more pop-rock style (in my opinion). I'm not really Penicillin's
greatest fan, but I really like Machine. |
| Nanase
Aikawa |
Jealousy |
Nanase
is back with a vengeance with this latest single. Her last 5 singles
were good, but honestly didn't impress me all that much. Certainly
not as much as the songs in her first two albums. But this new song
rocks! This is more along the lines of the kind of music that made
me a fan. It may very well be one of my favorite songs of hers.
Try it now punk. |

Blue
Sky Complex |
This
song from hide's first solo album is great fun with a 70's big band
sound. It has a strong brass and organ sound dominating the song
that makes it sound like a larger-than-life production. I like it. |
| Cocco |
Kubi |
The
use of lonely sounding strings in this song combined with the hard
rock gives it a very intersting feel. |
| Dreams
Come True |
Arashi
ga kuru |
A
groovy jazzed-up single from DCT's 1996 album Love Unlimited.
I love Miwa's voice. She's one of my favorite singers. Kind of reminds
me of Gloria Estefan. |
| Rebecca |
Virginity |
Here's a blast
from the past for you. One of the most popular Japanese bands
of the 80's Rebecca have always been a nostalgic trip for me.
You don't find a lot of information on the web about the Japanese
music scene in the 80's so I'm going to start posting some of
my favorite 80's artists to this site.
This song
made back in 1984 is one of my favorite songs of theirs.
If you notice a similar sound between this and a lot of 80's anime
theme songs, it's probably no mistake. A lot of Japanese groups
in the 80's tried to copy the trademark Rebecca sound which is
why so many anime theme songs sound like them.
