Tiger Mask is a manga series from 1968 that was created by Ikki Kajiwara and Naoki Tsuji, that follows the adventures of a masked professional wrestler as he earns money to help fund the orphanage that raised him.

The Tiger Mask manga and anime series have gone on to inspire actual pro-wrestlers to take up the Tiger Mask name and costume in the ring.

Relevance to Ranma 1/2

As Ryoga prepares to fight Ranma, Nabiki convinces him to take steroids (actually just vitamins) telling him, "you're a tiger! A tiger!". This is taken from the opening narration of Tiger Mask, where the narrator shouts out this same line.
