Mythology & Folklore

for further reading: Wikipedia

Zashiki Warashi are childlike spirits that bring good fortune to families in whose homes they live. They are considered harmless and desirable, with families leaving food or toys out to encourage their blessings of prosperity. Described to be child-like in appearance with a red face and topknot hairstyle. Culturally they have strong ties to Akita prefecture, but stories of the impish spirits have spread all across Japan.

Relevance to Rumic Theater

In the short story Extra-Large Size Happiness a huge, invisible creature is attempting to drive the family out of their home in order to protect them from a landslide it knows is imminent.
