Congratulations to our former editor, Mr. Yamaki, on his marriage! This was the first wedding reception that suddenly started with a groom's greeting.

I got a tape of the Tama indie recordings. I use it as background music while I work.

I’ve finished drawing the manuscripts for One Pound Gospel and am now back to my regular work load.

I drew the cover for Tomoko Konparu's novel, Twilight on Hollywood Boulevard.

My current assistant is shocked by the news of Hiroyuki Sanada's engagement. I hope she is able to recover.

We're in the midst of the rainy season now. Without being able to go out it makes it difficult to concentrate on work.

After a long time, I finally had the chance to go out to the theater and see Atami Murder Case (Atami Satsujin Jiken).

Recently I read back through a cardboard box full of fan letters. They'll be very useful for reference.

The man in charge recommended I see the video "White Snake Legend" (Hikiji Densetsu). It was pretty funny for a horror movie.

The man in charge showed me the autumn schedule, and I was surprised. There was a bit of a gap.

I'm working on a plot for the Mermaid Saga. This time I think I'll set it in a city perhaps.

On August 14th, I had hoped to go to the "Tama" concert, but I've given up all hope. My work load this summer is just too much.

This summer the air conditioner was broken. With the rain, it made things very, very tough.

Yoshinori Kobayashi-sensei and I worked on the next issue's cover together. We put a lot of effort into it, and I enjoyed it.

When I was drawing the Mermaid Saga one of my old assistants joined me. I think it was a very festive feeling.

Because of the Mermaid Saga story coming out on October 9th, I'll be going to Chichibu to do some research.

Next week Mermaid Saga's Tomorrow's Promise will be published. I hope you're looking forward to it. It'll be very scary.

I ate udon noodles at the Mermaid Saga interview site. They were chewy and it was nostalgic.

Miyuki Miyabe's novel is very interesting. I forgot about my deadline and read it.

I watched Ennosuke's Super Kabuki Hakkenden. I was impressed by the amazing contents. It was beyond my imagination.

Webmasters' Note: This is a reference to kabuki star Ichikawa Ennosuke. The Super Kabuki is a modernized, contemporary kabuki dance drama directed in a different manner from the original, classical kabuki theatrical dance, which was introduced by the third Ichikawa Ennosuke in 1986

Bonus Question: "Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle on the Super Famicom is super fun! The graphics are beautiful, and each character has a variety of techniques. Takahashi-sensei, do you play Super Fami? Please tell us your impressions." Takahashi answers: Both the staff members are crazy about it, and I have a callus on my thumb... Happosai is a tough one.

I went to the National Railway Workers Center again but all I could think about was work. Really.

Akudou Nikki (Badboy's Diary) was dark but very interesting. I read all three parts at once last year.

Webmasters' Note: Akudou Nikki is known as The Notebook Trilogy outside of Japan, and was written by Agota Kristof and was massively popular in the mid-90s, earning recommendations from mangaka Kyoko Okazaki and Shigesato Ito who apparently based Mother 3 on the books.

On the day of the Crown Prince's wedding I ended up working with the TV on all day.

I was happy Akebono won the Nagoya basho. I think Futagoyama will be advantageous after all.

Webmasters' Note: Takahashi is discussing sumo wrestling in this post. The Nagoya "basho" was a tournament held in Nagoya. This particular tournament ran from July 4th through 18th and saw Akebono earn his first championship as yokozuna. Futagoyama is a sumo stable.

I listened to the ending song for the Ranma OVA. It was amazing.

I had dinner with the cast of Ranma and Mermaid's Scar and was deeply moved by their cheerfulness and enthusiasm!
